Redland City Council 2018 Planning Scheme

We have previously blogged on the new Redland Planning Scheme 2018 City Plan that commenced on 8 October 2018 and that there were some challenges in this planning scheme with respect to vegetation clearing and the Environmental Significance overlay. There are similar provisions in various SE Qld planning schemes – Gold Coast and Moreton Regional Councils.

In their 2018 plan, Redland City Council stated that there is an “allowed” amount of clearing, however what hasn’t been well publicised or understood is that this really isn’t the case. In effect the policy creates a blanket ban on any vegetation clearing in this overlay area.

Redland City Council’s 2018 City Plan commenced on 8 October 2018. There are some challenges in this version of the planning scheme. In particular vegetation clearing is now assessable development for land that is included in the Environmental Significance overlay.

East Coast Surveys has now been accredited by Brisbane City Council for Risksmart for houses as well as subdivisions. This fits in well with small developments that are trying to retain an existing house that ends up on a smaller lot.
